Class Schedule

Jennifer teaches a variety of classes from Intro to CP Soap to Advance CP Soap classes as well as Bath and Body classes.  Her schedule is always changing so check back here every few months to see the new class listings. 

Jennifer also sells her Bath and Body Handouts as downloadable PDF files (SEE LISTINGS BELOW).  They come with a comprehensive overview on the topic, the ingredients you use and why, recipes, and step by step instructions.

March 8, 2017 Balms, Butters & Scrubs Littleton Parks & Rec Center
6:30 PM Littleton, MA

Do you know the difference between balms and butters?  Or that there are many types of scrubs from solid, liquid, to emulsified that you can make?  This class introduces students to making scrubs, balms, and butters.  Student will make their own solid lotion bar, butter, and a sugar scrub.  Jennifer will also provide students with a set of handouts and recipes on how to make other bath products.

March 11, 2017 Intro to CP Soap Making Acton-Boxboro Community Ed

Introduction to Cold Process Soap Making: Class covers equipment needed, safety, recipes, and instruction on ingredients (oils/butterse).  Class includes a comprehensive set of handouts for students.  Each student will make their own 1 lb batch of soap and go home with it.

March 15, 201 Decorative Soap Making The Roudenbush Community Center

So, you've made a batch or two of soap. You're comfortable with mixing the lye, measuring the oils, adding color, and using fragrances and essential oils.  Now you want to take the next step! Jennifer will go over the follwoing: Advance coloring, using embeds, creating layers, mica stamping, and making cupcake soaps.  Handouts will be provided.  As a class student will make a layered soap with embeds and will individually make cupcake soaps and practice stamping techniques.

March 21, 2017 Character Soaps Acton-Boxboro Community Ed

This class takes decorative soaps to the next level. Combining several techniques including embeds and piping students will make character soaps! Character soaps are simply soaps that represent an object, whether it’s a well loved cartoon character like Cookie Monster or your favorite animal like a lion! As a class, students will make a couple different character soaps including Cookie Monster, Oscar the Grouch, and different safari animals.

Have you ever wondered what makes a recipe good, bad, or just mediocre? Or what makes one recipe a good laundry soap and another a good shampoo bar and yet another a body soap? Jennifer will explain why different oils give different properties and how to formulate a well balanced recipe to get any quality you want from your bar of soap. She will also prep students on the how to solve the math/formulating questions on the Soap Guild Certification tests.

Have you even thought about making your own green cleaning products but not known where to start?  There is a lot of information out there and Jennifer has compiled it into a complete guide for green cleaning.  The class will go over the different natural ingredients that can be used to clean, their properties, what and how they clean, and provide a comprehensive set of recipes for making your own green cleaners.  Together the class will make (and go home with) an all purpose scrub, vinegar cleaner, and laundry soap.

May 23, 2017 Alternative Liquids in CP Soap Acton-Boxboro Community Ed
6:30 PM Acton, MA

Have you make Cold Process soap before?  Are you ready to experiment with new ingredients?  Specifically alternate liquids?  While water is the most common liquid used in soap making there are many other options out there!  Jennifer teaches students how to use alternate liquids to make soap including: beer, milks, teas, aloe, and food purees. The class will make a batch of goat’s milk soap and avocado or pumpkin soap. Each student will go home with 1lb of soap and complete set of handouts and recipes to follow for making alternate liquid soaps.

This is an intermediate level class.  Jennifer will not go over the basics of soap making.  If you have never made soap before she recommends you complete the Intro to CP class first.
